Requirements for Review
It should be clear that the Certifiably Green Clean process is a testimony to honesty in product or services offered to the public. Our program takes the attitude of an environmental consumer to what is promoted by the product. Fairness and credibility goes beyond the evaluation of ingredients proven in a lab. Therefore, our process is a kind of reputation research from a consumer perspective.
Our review starts with the representations of the product or service. Overstatements and misstatements are the classic Greenwashing concerns, so the first review is about the representations made. Secondarily, we research whether there are any well-documented environmental concerns for the ingredients or processes of the product or service. What we seek to find is obvious problems that would betray consumer confidence.
To complete our review, we need a sample of the product, examples of marketing materials or public representations, and any research of lab work already accomplished. We will then conduct our review and issue a report of our findings. In most cases, companies already know if they are involved in Greenwashing, and they will avoid our review. Other times, our suggestions can be used to refine the company's marketing.
We do not promise approval by our program; but if we do not approve your product, we will return your fees in full. For obvious reasons, we want to protect our credibility as well others who participate in this program. The payment of the fee does not guarantee the approval, but frankly most applications are approved because submitting companies typically qualify or disqualify themselves after reading through this website.
